After hearing that Nani had missed out of the PFA shortlist, I gathered my thoughts and here is what I think...
It was a poor choice not to include a player who is perhaps the best true winger in the game today... It disappoints me that such a decision to not include him was made after he has been the most consistent piece in United's rather shaky season.
You've heard it throughout the season that the football United has been playing has been frankly below-par in comparison to not only former champs but other United sides who weren't leading the table. However, when we look at the table and also the performances throughout the league, it's fair to say that the other big clubs have also been guilty of this.
Going back to Nani, for those who question his commitment to team-work, if you're not listening to his teammates than at least take a look at his league-leading assist number. Sure, he isn't at the top of the league scoring sheet, but 9 goals is definitely an admirable number for a true winger and if you have watched United this season, you'd know that the bulk of the goals came at crucial times for United.
Well those are my 2 cents on the matter, hopefully the lad doesn't get down on the snub because he's already coming off a stressful and emotionally painful year with his position at United in near crisis and not being able to participate at the 2010 WC.
PFA Shortlist:
Nemanja Vidic (Manchester United)
Carlos Tevez (Manchester City)
Samir Nasri (Arsenal)
Gareth Bale (Tottenham)
Scott Parker (West Ham)
Charlie Adam (Blackpool)
Now what about the players who made the cut? There would be no guarantee that Nani would have even come out on top if included since the names on that list are quite compelling in their own. What I ask the rest of you is to let me know what you think? What do some of the candidates have that make them better choices than Nani? Finally, who do think should win the award?
