Manchester United Clinch Record 19th English Premier League Title

The last few fixtures of the English Premier League were enough to rattle the fortunes of some of the top clubs.

1) Manchester United - 80  Points - 38 Games  (Champions)

2) Chelsea FC - 71 Points - 38 Games (UCL Direct)

3) Manchester City - 71 Points -  38 Games (UCL Direct)

4)Arsenal FC - 68 Points - 38 Games (UCL Qualifying)

5) Tottenham Hotspurs - 62 Points - 38 Games (UEFA Europa League)

6) Liverpool FC - 58 Points - 38 Games

In our previous update, Manchester United were only 1 point away from clinching a record 19th English Premier League title and they indeed did so and won the league by a margin of 9 points over the defending champions Chelsea FC.

Chelsea FC finished the season on 71 points and in need of a new manager after Roman Abramovich decided that Carlo Ancelotti's tenure at Chelsea would end at 2 seasons. The Russian billionaire will be questioned over the sacking as Ancelotti had won the league only a season earlier and had dealt with various injuries to the first team and the introduction of an out-of-form Fernando Torres. Nevertheless, it's back to square one for Chelsea who finished level on points with Manchester City.

Chelsea are looking for a new manager, again.
Manchester City came into the season hoping for the best, the best being UEFA Champions League football and that's what they got. In fact, not only were they able to clinch a spot in the Champions League, but a direct one at it by finishing in 3rd. Arsenal's season came to an end in a rather sluggish way as they slumped down to 4th in yet another season to forget for Gunner fans. It'll be interesting to see if Wenger gets sacked for yet another disappointing season; definitely in comparison to Ancelotti. We doubt it though.

It was yet another disappointing campaign for Wenger and Co.
Tottenham and Liverpool seemingly found themselves in a battle for 5th place and a trip into the UEFA Europa League. Although it seemed for weeks that Liverpool may be up to the challenge, they were left humiliated by Tottenham as they clinched the 5th spot and Liverpool finished 6th.

Tottenham put Liverpool's hopes of European football to rest.
Credit should be given to Liverpool after being at point towards the other end of the table, they were able to turn it around thanks to new additions and particularly the work of interim and now new permanent manager Kenny Dalglish.

Kenny Dalglish gives Liverpool supporter's hope for the future.
