Coentrão On His Way Out? Real Madrid & Liverpool Pressing


Fabio Coentrão is the latest of Portugal's gems to attract interest amongst many of Europe's top clubs. A speedy and tricky player, Coentrão had initially played as a winger until SL Benfica manager Jorge Jesus encouraged the youngster to try-out the LB slot. The rest as we say is history and after an impressive 2 seasons, which saw him having earned a starting spot on the Portuguese National team, has led him to become one of Europe's most wanted players.

UEFA Europa League: Tomorrow We Find Out Who Our Finalists Are

Tomorrow, May 5th, we'll know who our finalists are. Those 2 clubs who have endured to have a chance for the ultimate prize in Dublin. Despite being UEFA's second tier competition, the Europa League, in it's 2nd season, has produced some excellent quality matches which have led people to argue that certain sides within the competition this year could even have contended for the UEFA Champions League.

Estádio da Luz Turf Covered In Storm Aftermath



Benfica awoke to a surprise earlier today as their entire pitch was covered in white after a bad storm had been effecting the area since yesterday evening. I've posted some more photos below.

UEFA Europa League Semi-Final Update: Porto Thrash Villarreal & Benfica Hold Onto Slight Edge

The UEFA Europa League Semi-Finals took off in Portugal this evening as both Porto and Benfica secured 1st leg victories at home to edge a step closer to a pivotal Portuguese duel in Dublin.

UEFA Europa League Semi-Final Preview: SL Benfica v SC Braga

Spain Wants In? 2011 Copa America

So the associated press is reporting that Spain are considering an offer to take Japan's slot at this summer's Copa America in Argentina. Japan withdrew from the tournament given the current condition the nation is in, which the whole world knows. If Spain is being allowed to participate then why not Portugal?
